John 12:19 The Pharisees therefore said among themselves, Perceive ye how ye prevail nothing? behold, the world is gone after him.
Amongst all religions we find people driving to get more and more people to be part of it, they want maximum followers and to achieve that they will do anything, including using evil means for that. This is not only for worldly religions but also many who call themselves ‘Christians’ but do not know Christ and His Kingdom also do this. The kind of things I have heard done not only by non-‘Protestant’ Christians but also Believer Churches, makes me wonder what have they to do with Christ.
There is a majority of Christians who think each and every one is a potential Christian thus they put lots of efforts to reach out to the maximum people. There is the other lot who believe in predefined destiny and thus take least efforts to reach out unto others. The later lot cause more harm to the Kingdom of God than the prior lot.
The Greek word translated as chosen comes from the root meaning ‘preferred’. If we understand salvation the vacancy in Heaven is numbered, fixed, that means the humans God created are much, much more than those who will go to Heaven, from these there are very few who come to know Him. Even amongst those who know Him only a third of them fulfill the criteria to inherit His Kingdom. One may get depressed hearing this but do not loose heart for those who inherit are as many as a third of the stars and that is a lot.
Coming to whom do we reach out to if those who succeed are a small fraction. When Jesus told the Pharisees about how God sent His man only to a widow in the whole city of Jews that was suffering in a famine caused the Pharisees to get very angry. This number is not be so bad today for as the end comes the number of sheep v/s goats increases greatly. We may not like what is happening around us and the challenges we are facing spiritually but let us realize we exist in a time where more amongst us who call ourselves God’s people will actually inherit His Kingdom, so that makes our possibility to succeed greater.
Salvation is a personal choice and calls for internal transformation. God who has created us made us all the same, we all came from the same seed Adam and depending on the corruption of our fathers we inherited their nature. Even though we inherited a corrupt nature we need to realize it is our personal choice to act in it and let that nature become us, so we cannot blame God or our ancestors for our corruption. When God says ‘chosen people’ it refers to those few whom God knows will overcome the corrupt nature, thus they are preferred.
If we know (led by the Holy Spirit) then we can have a much focused ministry catering to only sheep. But then we are not so close to the Holy Spirit thus we caste seeds (labor) like a unskilled farmer on rich soil, where thorns and thistles exist, amongst rocks and on the way side.
Lord You are Almighty God. You are our Creator and creator of everything that exist. Lord even though You knew the fall and rise of beings yet You allowed their existence. You give all the same opportunity to change for You are Righteous and True. Even though salvation is a personal choice yet we can not take credit for it since none can succeed without your help. Lord we pray and thank You for your help and choosing us as your people…
This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.
3 Blessed [be] the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly [places] in Christ:
4 According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:
5 Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,
6 To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved.
7 In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;
8 Wherein he hath abounded toward us in all wisdom and prudence;
9 Having made known unto us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure which he hath purposed in himself:
10 That in the dispensation of the fulness of times he might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; [even] in him:
11 In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will:
12 That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ.
