2 Thessalonian 2:9 (ASV) [even he], whose coming is according to the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,
A few years back there was a great wave of ‘End Times’ being at hand on social media, today it has sobered down to some extent, but if anyone touches that topic then immediately people jump into.
I have seen people having little knowledge of Bible prophecies, proper Bible study talk for hours and hours on end times and how it is coming ‘very soon’. You ask them when and they say ‘soon’, ask them how they know, then they speak about all the disasters/persecution events that are going around. Only way to shut them up is show them scriptures that show the end comes not when there is turmoil but after they stop and when there is peace.
Jesus said the end (Judgment Day) will come like a thief and like Noah’s flood. Equating it to a thief since worldly people will be asleep, least expecting, Noah’s flood for only when Noah finished making the ark did the floods come, the people did not know it’s coming but Noah did. Noah did not know the exact time but knew one thing that only after he finishes the job given to him by the Lord would the flood come.
The people of Thessalonica were like our now a days ‘End Times’ people, who are only caught up with when the end comes and that it was at hand. Paul wrote them 2 letters concentrating on this topic. The first letter did not clear the matter so he wrote the second letter giving further details.
In today’s message which is from the second letter, one of the key events marking that the end is at hand is the revealing of the ‘Son of Perdition’. The term ‘perdition’ (meaning destruction) was also used for Judas and we see it being used for people who have harden their hearts so much that nothing can change them, Paul uses the term ‘son of Satan’ to one such person (Elymas – the sorcerer). This person is not a great being but one who is unchangeable and thus used by Satan.
Having done great amount of study on End Days /Judgment Day. This person who is called ‘The False Prophet’ has lots of details given in the OT as to his identity. If one does Bible codes one can get more specific details as to his name (meaning), place he comes from and how he deceives the world to think he is from God. One of the great wonders he does is bring back to life (manifest a ghost) a character of the Bible and people who do not worship it would be killed. What is interesting to know is this character would be soon erased with the fall of the false Church, but this false prophet brings it back with great wonder and this happens when people are cold hearted (lose faith – the chip is connected to this happening).
Judgment Day study is very important and is to be part of our foundational topics but since people lack understanding of it, they have put it in advanced topics.
The Lord is telling us who know Him not to walk with our heads look at the clouds but be like Noah who focused on getting the job done. Let us get this into us that our victory is unchangeable so Satan (plural) and their goons (fallen angels) cannot harm us until our job is done. The end days is like Jesus’ crucifixion where He was seen defeated on the cross but suddenly His resurrection changed everything.
Lord You are Almighty God. You Lord are all knowing and in control of all things. You have set the limits for evil so that it does not consume your people. Until your purpose is not done You will not let evil consume the people. End days may seem like failure and defeat but resurrection of your people changes it all, like it did with Crucifixion. We pray we prepare for the resurrection and not for end days…
This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.
John 17:12 While I was with them, I kept them in thy name which thou hast given me: and I guarded them, and not one of them perished, but the son of perdition; that the scripture might be fulfilled.
2 Thessalonians 2:3 let no man beguile you in any wise: for [it will not be,] except the falling away come first, and the man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition,
Philippians 3:19 whose end is perdition, whose god is the belly, and [whose] glory is in their shame, who mind earthly things.
1 Timothy 6:9 But they that are minded to be rich fall into a temptation and a snare and many foolish and hurtful lusts, such as drown men in destruction and perdition.
Hebrews 10:39 But we are not of them that shrink back unto perdition; but of them that have faith unto the saving of the soul.
8 But Elymas the sorcerer (for so is his name by interpretation) withstood them, seeking to turn aside the proconsul from the faith.
9 But Saul, who is also [called] Paul, filled with the Holy Spirit, fastened his eyes on him,
10 and said, O full of all guile and all villany, thou son of the devil, thou enemy of all righteousness, wilt thou not cease to pervert the right ways of the Lord?
11 And now, behold, the hand of the Lord is upon thee, and thou shalt be blind, not seeing the sun for a season. And immediately there fell on him a mist and a darkness; and he went about seeking some to lead him by the hand.
1 Thessalonians 5:3 When they are saying, Peace and safety, then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall in no wise escape.
